3 Fast Fixes To Get Found Locally
You’re not nearly as visible as you’d like to be in the Google Local Search results, and have no time on your hands. You need a quick, cheap fix.
If you’re in a hole and you lack time, there are 3 things you need to do, if you do nothing else. They are ALL very quick to implement, or to have someone do for you:
- Make sure the title of your Google Places listing–that blue link–is relevant to what you offer and want to be found locally for. It should contain the “official” name of your business, but you should also mention the specific service you offer. It’s a good idea to sniff out your competition; see what the #1, #2 ranked competition does.
- Get a lead generation website. This is KEY. It doesn’t need to be pretty or even good. Whether you have a website is a big ranking factor for Google, and if you don’t have one, you’re at a disadvantage to your competitors who do. Therefor, if you don’t have one already, get one.
- Add a photo, your business hours, at least one category, and as much other detail as you can to your listing. That all shows up and is helpful to customers trying to decide on you versus the next guy. Plus Google REALLY likes as much information as possible about your business when deciding how to rank you. If you don’t have basic info, the chances are good customers will go somewhere else out of frustration.
These steps don’t guarantee you a high ranking (that depends on how tough your competition is). But if you implement these solutions now, there’s a good chance you’ll get a boost locally–and if you don’t do them, it’s likely you’ll just remain invisible to your potential customers.
